Membership – Frequently Asked Questions

When is the decorating season?

The holiday decoration season runs from October through December.  Most residential and commercial clients will allow you to install early in the season.  This will help maximize your workable decorating days.  Take downs usually begin in January, depending on customer preference.

Do I need electrical experience?

No.  Holiday Bright Lights will give you the basic knowledge you’ll need, with our training classes and members manual you will learn some techniques that will serve you well on projects.

How much money can I make?

In our experience, we have seen new members make over $25,000 in their first year, and as their business grows from year to year we have seen members make over $500,000 during the holiday season.  Results are entirely up to you once we’ve provided you the right tools to succeed.

Is this a franchise?

No, our membership is designed to give companies the freedom to run their own business.  No annual or monthly fees are required.  Unlike franchises, members are limited to zip codes or counties.  No Territories.  We will give you the tools and guidance to become successful in the holiday lighting industry.

What is a typical crew size for this industry?

We would recommend that you start off with a two person crew size.  A crew size this size should be able to decorate 2-3 homes a day, depending on the size of the project.  A two person crew should be able to generate between $3,000 – $5,000 dollars per day in revenue.  Some of our Members have larger crews so they can cover more territory in a shorter period of time.

What does it take to become a Member?

The cost to start this business is minimal, becoming a member is a simple process of purchasing one of the starter packages from the Member Benefits.  Each package is designed for different start up levels.  This is a one time purchase which most companies see their return on investment in the first two projects.

Where do I get insurance for this industry?

Holiday Bright Lights established a partnership with Quinn insurance they have designed coverage plans for the holiday lighting industry.

Is this service hard to sell?

The holiday decorating industry is growing each year, as selling the service.  No, with Holiday Bright Lights products and the service you provide most clients really want to buy.  We will teach you the proper sales presentation steps that make the sales fun and enjoyable.  With the visual sales techniques, you can show your clients the end result before you begin.  Not many companies can offer that to a client, so that alone will put you ahead of the competition!

What services would normally be included?

Each project has its differences.  Our most successful members provide installation, service during the season, removal and storage of your client’s product for the season.  You will create a full turnkey operation for your client.

What about client retention?

Most clients who have hired a professional decorating service will reuse.  With the system of storing their product and the services you perform your retention rate should be 95% or higher.  Remember, our unique designs and your crews is what will keep them coming back year after year.
